About Karen

Karen Carroll is owner/president of KCI enterprises and Sylvan Learning Center, based in Clayton, Missouri. In 2003, she laid the groundwork for the establishment of the UMSL Executive Leadership Consortium and serves as the moderator for the Distinguished Speaker Series and The Great Lecture Series. She is the former general manager of KMOX Radio. While at KMOX, the station achieved national prominence and was awarded the Edward R. Murrow award for best news coverage. Her extensive involvement in the St. Louis community has included projects such as serving as representative for Easy Community on the National Radio Advertising Bureau, founding Outreach St. Louis and dedicating her time to a number of boards. They include Junior Achievement, Forest Park Forever, St. Louis Regional Chamber, American Cancer Research Center, St. Louis Symphony, The Muny and Red Cross Disaster Relief. Karen’s special recognition awards include Top 25 Women Business Leaders, National Radio Industry Woman of the Year, 1994 YWCA Leadership Award, 1999; Top St. Louis Business Leaders, 2001 and the Women of Achievement in 2003.
